About Hivemapper
Hivemapper (HONEY) is the utility token for a decentralized mapping platform that rewards contributors for providing street-level imagery and helping train AI systems. Built on Solana, it uses a burn-and-mint token model to ensure balance between token supply and demand for map data.
Hivemapper (HONEY) is the native token of the Hivemapper Network, a decentralized, community-driven mapping platform. The network enables users to collect street-level imagery using crypto-enabled dashcams. This data contributes to building and maintaining a global map that businesses and individuals can use. HONEY tokens are earned by contributors who provide map data or help improve the platform’s AI through tasks like labelling. The token is built on the Solana blockchain and employs a "Burn and Mint" model, where tokens are burned when customers access map services, and new tokens are periodically minted as rewards for contributors.
HONEY tokens serve multiple purposes within the Hivemapper ecosystem. Primarily, they are distributed as rewards to contributors who provide fresh map data using dashcams. These contributors help solve the problem of outdated and expensive map data collection, ensuring maps remain current and accurate. Enterprises that require access to Hivemapper’s data for applications like logistics, autonomous driving, and real-time navigation can purchase map data by burning HONEY tokens. Additionally, a portion of these burned tokens is reissued to contributors as "Map Consumption Rewards".
