About Nosana
Nosana is a decentralised crowd-computing platform, allowing users to rent out their device's GPU capacity for NOS tokens on the Solana blockchain. It supports consumer hardware, focusing on AI inference workloads. Nosana marks a shift in computing by using idle global GPU resources for efficient, cost-effective access to GPU power. Its main function is providing a decentralised GPU grid for AI development and other high-compute tasks. Users monetise idle hardware, earning more than in traditional crypto mining. It also offers an eco-friendly alternative to large data centres, reducing environmental impact. NOS tokens are the native currency within Nosana, used for services like Continuous Integration and Deployment (CICD) in development projects.
Nosana is a decentralised GPU compute network that connects individuals and organisations with underutilised GPU hardware to users who require compute power for AI inference tasks. The project aims to make GPU access more widely available by allowing hosts—such as data centres, gamers, and former crypto miners—to rent out idle GPU resources.
The platform offers a distributed grid of GPUs that can be accessed via a suite of APIs and tools. It supports various AI workloads by enabling compute power to be rented on demand, without requiring centralised providers or long-term contracts. Nosana is built on the Solana blockchain and originally focused on decentralised computing for software development pipelines before shifting to AI applications.
NOS is the utility token used within the Nosana Network. It enables interaction with the platform’s decentralised infrastructure.
*Key uses of NOS include:*
- Paying for access to GPU resources for AI inference
- Staking to participate in the network
- Operating and registering nodes
- Receiving rewards for contributing compute resources
- Engaging in network-based incentives and participation mechanisms
NOS acts as the medium of exchange and coordination within the network, supporting its permissionless compute marketplace.
