Bitfinex Halts Trading Due to Platform Outage
The crypto exchange said the issue has been resolved and all systems are operational.

Bitfinex, one of the largest centralized crypto exchanges, halted trading on Thursday morning for more than two hours.
- The exchange said on its website status page that it was “investigating issues with the platform” at 07:43 UTC. It subsequently announced that trading would reopen at 10:05 UTC, and posted a resolution notice at 10:20 UTC.
- No further information is available relating to the cause of the outage. Bitfinex advised users to follow its Twitter feed and website status page for updates. It didn’t respond to an emailed request for details.
- Bitfinex is the world’s ninth-largest crypto exchange, with a 24-hour trading volume of $712 million according to data from CoinMarketCap.
- The exchange last halted trading in July, when it cited issues with “platform reduced performances.” That outage lasted for about 1 hour, 45 minutes.
